1.Tin (SN): there are three types of tin plating: pre-plating; pre-coating; electroplating. Tin is relatively soft, with good protective performance and corrosion resistant. It is cheap, easy to weld, and the coating thickness is 2 ~ 4um; The color of tin plate is silver white, dark or glossy. At present, pure tin plating is common in OBD cable. And nickel plating is used at the bottom to enhance the anti-corrosion performance with the compactness of nickel.
2. Gold (AU): electroplated gold is the best electroplate for current electrical contact parts. It is very soft, with excellent corrosion resistance and good conductivity. It is insoluble in pure acid but very expensive. Therefore, OBD cable use partial gold plating only (gold plating in the meshing range). The gold plating is usually on the nickel coating. The coating thickness is 0.4 ~ 3.5um.
3. Palladium (PD): the precious metal palladium is replacement of gold plating in some limited areas. Generally it is for metal welding layer (hard gold method). The conductivity of palladium is worse than that of gold.
4. Silver (Ag): with white luster, soft texture, good conductivity and good solderability. But the gloss is not firm. Precious metals are relatively expensive.
5. Nickel (Ni): it is relatively valuable. with silvery white color, poor conductivity, hard texture and smooth surface. Generally it is for basic layer of gold plating but its weldability is poor. Most of the steel contacts are with nickel plate (plate copper first). And the nickel plating on brass or bronze reaches 250 ℃. This is another plating material for obd cable.
Buyer can appoint main material and plating material for the contact parts of obd cable.
